The new section of a semi-detached house was built to passive house standards, despite challenging conditions: closed to the south (extension), very small volume, and limited budget. For this project, the initial submission was optimized using energy calculations (Passive House Planning Software). This led to a redefinition of the building envelope and the development of the execution project with detailed planning.
The building was monitored as part of the “Enerbuild WP5_action 5.4” project. The measured heating energy consumption was 10 kWh/(m²a), lower than the calculated heating demand of 14 kWh/(m²a) using PHPP. The results are telling. In only 2 of the 18 monitored buildings was the measured heating demand lower than the calculated. In the long-term monitoring, the P. house in Kaltern performed the best.
