APARTMENT BUILDING S, Bolzano (BZ)

The multi-family residential building, constructed in the 1960s, is located in a residential area of Bolzano-Gries. The aim of the project was to improve the building’s energy efficiency and renovate its architectural appearance, while keeping structural work to a minimum. In particular, thermal insulation was added to the roof and basement ceiling, and the exterior façade was redesigned with a new colour scheme. Despite the limited scope of the work, the building has acquired a contemporary and elegant appearance, enhancing its original structure.

From a design point of view, the glass blocks in the stairwell were replaced with new windows, significantly improving the amount of natural light entering the common areas. All the balcony railings were redesigned in a modern style, offering residents the choice between closed or open elements, according to their preferences. The facade has been painted in a warm grey-brown tone, with colour-coordinated balcony railings, creating a harmonious whole with a sober and elegant character.
