RESIDENCE P.,
Leifers (BZ)
Living Amidst Greenery
The P. family’s residence is nestled amidst the orchards on the outskirts of Leifers. While the ground floor houses agricultural spaces, the living area is situated on the first floor, offering its residents a life above the treetops. The generous south-facing terrace serves as both a playground and an outdoor living room. The building appears closed off on the north side, but on the west side, the facade opens up, with wood-clad balconies creating an intriguing two-level design. Thanks to the earth-colored facades, the building with its distinctive shape, blends discreetly and harmoniously into the landscape.
Ecology and sustainability were key in the material selection: the building is made of single-layer masonry, with clay-plastered interior walls that, along with the ventilation system, regulate the indoor climate and ensure pleasant living comfort. Heating and hot water production are provided by a wood-burning stove in combination with solar panels.
